We stayed here 1 night before our ocean cruise. The hotel is within reasonable walking distance of the Central train station. Our room (1126) was good other than an odd smell that my wife told me reminded her of urine. The bathroom layout was good and we had plenty of space for our luggage. We chose not to eat or drink in any of the hotel bars and restaurants so can’t vouch for them. We did like that the hotel was located adjacent to the cruise terminal so it was an easy walk in the morning to board our ship.
I usually would stay at this property whenever i visit Amsterdam. But on this trip, my experience from the earlier stays was completely opposite. What i have seen is a remarkable absence of the staff's pro active approach towards the Guests. My experience this time has to do more with a Staff threatening a 2 year old. The staff named Andrei, has somehow landed in the wrong job. His threat to my two year old Girl (when she refused to share her toy) was "Give me or I will throw you out of the hotel!". To me this behaviour is absolutely unacceptable. I did not escalate this then, but next day i did inform the Manager who gave me an email address to send my complaint. But rather i prefer using the public domain, as i feel may be families travelling with kids should be made aware of existence of such staff members. His behaviour was of the ignoring type - where he was laughing watching a youtube video rather than attending me (the guest). The wait was well over 2 minutes, where he realised that i was not going to go anywhere, poor guy may be i interrupted his watching experience. Somehow i felt that only the staff named Yugi (or may be it was Yugai) was the only one with sound service industry training. She was anticipating our needs, doing the follow up once the request was resolved. Another good staff i met was Rosa. She showed similar traits. Other than that its my personal opinion that GM's responsibility should be about the staff grooming, and ensuring that guests irrespective of their color get the best services. In my case this was a 1500 EUR worth of a weekend, where we paid to get insulted. Albeit, forget throwing a little kid out of the hotel, its the GM who needs to get a boot for ruining one of the Accor's best hotel. Sorry but this is not about getting personal, but hiring of bad tempered staff, choosing to treat people of color a little different shows the direction the top leadership condones. You will be fine if you are on business and not going to interact much with the staff. Rest, i feel sorry for not being able to chose this hotel for my next stay. But otherwise some plus points: 1. Room service is prompt. 2. Breakfast has a lot of options and it will be good enough for all kinds of preferences. 3. Sleep quality is great. 4. Sound proofing of the rooms was nice. 5. Property was clean all along. 6. Access to parking was a breeze. 7. Check-in and Check-out was very prompt.
Great stay . Room waa clean and comfortable. 10 min walk into the city centre. Right next to cruise port. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Without exception the staff were polite, helpful, efficient and they made our stay enjoyable. It is the staff that make me recommended this hotel and they are the reason I would stay there again.
Return visit didn't disappoint. Walked off a wonderful Celebrity cruise and checked in next door at the Movenpick. Probably our 5th or 6th visit. Friendly front desk staff, handled our bags while we went off to enjoy Amsterdam since it was too early to check in. Rooms are comfortable and very reasonable. Bar is odd, various menus throughout the day at different times, staff is plentiful but oddly not engaged with customers sitting at tables. But, it's right there and nothing else is available. Short walk to Central Station (but not that short). Worked perfectly for a post cruise night.
Asked for spaghetti Bolognese the self righteous appointed chef refused as it was on the children’s menu. Obviously it can be made for a children it can be made for an adult. One very sad and disappointing experience in a motel we have paid a lot of to stay in.
