Avoid this place. It’s difficult and complex to get to using public transport. The front desk staff are indifferent and unhelpful. The decor is tired. It’s very expensive to get to the airport - there is no hotel shuttle. And unbelievably on the weekend food is impossible to come by. You would be better off financially going into the city and getting to the Munich airport by uber than staying here and you will have a much better experience.
Terrible hotel. Musty smell throughout, we moved rooms but they simply smell old and musty. Probably due to the dated carpet and furniture/ curtains. Dungeon like "upgrade" to a dark room under the roof. Zero services. How can this be a 4 star as we have stayed in much better 2-star properties! Taxi from the airport EURO 30 (Euro 60/ retour). No shuttle offered, that's ridiculous. We could have stayed at the true airport Hotel Hilton w/ direct s-Bahn access to Munich downtown. From the Moevenpick, it is a bus plus S-Bahn (45-55 min one way). No food on premises until 6pm. Don't be fooled by the pictures posted of a restaurant and beer garden. Which airport hotel does this when promoting food services? Rooms and common areas are dated (80's with no updates), dirty with fabric stains on the upholstery and carpet. Looks like a tacky souvenir shop when checking in with a tacky jewelry cabinet at front desk and jams jars on the counter. Stay away! Use the cheaper and more delightful Hampton Inn across the street w/ shuttle, free bfst and nice updated sitting area or stay at the true HILTON airport hotel. Wasted 1/2 days here. The fact it belongs to french owned ACCOR should have been enough warning.
I felt nausea, and difficulty breathing as soon as I entered our room on the 2nd floor. The room smelled like poop and urine. We encountered their toilet paper with a diarrhea stain in the room(pictures attached). I took pictures and immediately went down to show them. I requested a room change from the front desk. And they told me that they are completely booked up. They said they will send us the cleaning lady asap. While waiting for cleaning lady, my husband went down to get our room upgraded by paying extra 10 euro as he received an email offer earlier. Again, they said all the rooms were completely booked up. We waited over two hours. Finally, the cleanning lady showed up and handed me the toilet paper. She was about to leave so I asked her that the bathroom had to be sanitized. She poured some lavender scented liquid and flushed the toilet multiple times. Then she left and smell didnt go away. Front desk employees Daniel and Huy were super kind and nice. They kept on apologizing and said the building is 35 year old and the smell comes from the old pipe. We checked in around 5:15 pm and ended up leaving at around 8 pm. We've stayed at Movenpick Amsterdam and Prague before and they were not like this.
On our way through we visited this hotel, where I stayed during my working life very often with pleasure. On arrival we paid for 1 night parking 20 euros! The staff at the lobby was friendly and efficient and gave us a nice quiet room. The room had a minibar, flat screen TV, good large beds, free, well-functioning WiFi, tea and coffee making facilities and a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. Unfortunately, after a few minutes we smelled a sewer smell in the room. This appeared to come from the bathroom, shower, toilet and sink. We informed the lobby, who immediately sent someone to our room. She brought a bottle with special disinfectant that was poured into the drains. This helped immediately and the dirty smell did not return later. We reserved a table for two for dinner in the restaurant. It took 30 minutes before our order was taken. Weiss beer, grilled vegetables with rice and veal strips with mushrooms in mushroom sauce with hash browns. An hour and 15 minutes later the meals were served! Unfortunately no grilled vegetables but vegetables etc. in curry sauce! After some insistence the vegetables in curry sauce were taken back and they would serve the grilled vegetables after all. These came again 35 minutes later! The quality of the veal strips with mushrooms in mushroom sauce was very mediocre, much too salty and the sauce was much too thin, mushroom soup! The dinner was very disappointing, unfortunately far too little but well-intentioned staff. We slept well and the breakfast the next morning was perfect and extensive. All in all, no longer the top quality hotel it used to be. Certainly considering the prices that have to be paid for room, dinner, breakfast and parking.
The hotel management rejection of the emergency cancelation request, although in accordance to the T&Cs , was very rigid considering that the request was only 8 hours after the deadline in the early morning. The hotel charged the full day amount penalty. Such rigid response from a prestigious chain as Mövenpick is surprising, even after a reconsideration request due to the Munich airport strike situation on Feb 27 to 28 2025 .
