Convenient Stay during our Umrah trip – Excellent Location, Great Service, Exorbitant pricing, But Showing Its Age.

I stayed here with my family during our recent Umrah trip. This property has been around for a while — long before becoming a Mövenpick, it was known as Anwar Al Madinah. And while the Mövenpick branding adds some credibility, the age of the hotel still shows in parts of the property like the lobby, corridors, and rooms. ✅ The Good: Size: It’s a large hotel, capable of accommodating a high number of guests — ideal during busy Umrah seasons. Service: The reception staff were polite and welcoming. Although the check-in area was crowded, a staff member at the Accor Member Desk quickly assisted us with priority check-in. Very efficient! Location: Unbeatable. The hotel is located right at Gate 326 of Masjid an-Nabawi — you simply step out and you're there. Restaurant: The breakfast buffet was excellent — one of the best I’ve had during my stays. Rooms: Spacious and flexible in terms of layout. Options range from 2 beds to 4 beds, which is perfect for families or groups. ⚠️ The Not-So-Good: In Need of Renovation: While clean, the interiors feel dated. The age of the property is noticeable, especially in the hallways and room furnishings. Price: On the highly expensive side. 💬 Final Thoughts: If location is your top priority — especially for easy access to Masjid an-Nabawi — and you value good service, this hotel is a good choice. Just be prepared for an older property and an extremely higher pricing. Despite that, I would consider staying here again for the convenience and hospitality.

Reception staff

Very bad experience. With the reception staff rude an arrogant muhammad salama and majeed no customer service experience. They talk to you, shout and then start ignoring you. They start smiling and grinning more training need for the staff. Very bad customer service spoke to the manager, she was very helpful Rama Alnawar duty manager she said she's gonna look in to it

Locked out with my wife at 6:00 am

Very bad service to start with. No proper concierge service when we arrived at the property. No parking spot. I had to change my cards 3 times and they gave 6 cards. In the end none of them worked. I was stuck outside of room for 50 mins at 6:00 am in the morning with my wife after returning from praying Fajr. This is the worst 5 star hotel ever. Should be ranked 2 stars

Horrible Place

This was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. The room we were given was filthy, with dirty carpets covered in stains. It was immediately clear that the room had not been maintained to even a basic standard of cleanliness. When we raised the issue with reception, instead of addressing the problem right away, they told us we could move to a different room the next day. This was unacceptable as we had already checked in and were left to spend the night in a dirty room. The staff were unhelpful, dismissive, and showed no urgency or willingness to resolve the situation. The overall experience was extremely disappointing. I would strongly advise others to avoid this hotel. I will never stay here again. Rating: 1/10

Horrible hotel

If the definition of a hotel in Madinah is that the hotel is near the Masjid-al Nabawi then yes this is a 5 star hotel. Otherwise this is 2 star hotel pretending to be a 5 star hotel. The rooms were old with 1970s decor, the bathroom was old, moldy and very basic. The shower cubicle must have been at least 30 years old in design, no hand held shower head as you would expect with a so called 5 start hotel. The toilet was weird with the water level at least half-way up the bowl. The towels room service provided were old and grey, they were so old they had cotton threads hanging out of them and they never smelt fresh. There were stains on the walls both in the room and bathroom. Again not 5 star standard. The air-conditioning in our room was set very high and we just couldn't lower the temperature. When I was younger I stayed in 2 star hotels in Europe cleaner than this hotel. The so called 5 star restaurant charged 5 star prices but the food was not that good. I expect metal cutlery and plates at a 5 star restaurant, not food in plastic takeaway boxes with plastic cutlery. Oh yes and don't buy any pastries from the coffee counter in the lobby, you don't know how long its been left out. On our last day we missed breakfast as we were checking out early so I bought a croissant, I had to spit it out on the first bite as it was so obviously stale. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and during the last two days the metal railings and lift buttons were giving small static shocks. This hotel was literally held together by glue and tape, you could see wiring with electrical tape around it and in the bathroom whoever did the sealant did a very bad job, you could see it had been done again and again. If this hotel was in Europe it would have been closed down by Health and Safety. Also don't be fooled by the pictures of the rooms that this hotel presents on its website, they are either all fake (I saw other rooms as I walked past with the same old decor as ours) or perhaps they have a handful of modern rooms. Finally let me tell you how I felt during my stay. When I was in Masjid-al Nabawi praying I felt grateful and happy to be in Madinah, I felt calm. When I was in my hotel room I would count the days until we would be leaving. Even though this hotel as so many bad reviews, don't expect anything to change, these hotels know that because they are so close to the Masjid-al Nabawi, customers will still come. There is no incentive for them to upgrade or improve their service.
